Y-Factor

Y-Factor is aimed at Primary School children, but could easily be adapted for Secondary. It cribs everything X-Factor, inviting schools to submit a song about road safety.

Evaluated
Once the schools have submitted their songs, three finalists are chosen and these are filmed and uploaded to a dedicated website where “voting” commences, usually for six weeks.

The winners get to record their song in a studio and get a copy on CD and a certificate. We team up with Heart FM to deliver this scheme to bring the “star factor”.

Y-Factor has won a Prince Michael International Road Safety Award (PMIRSA) and is now in its third year. It has been hugely successful with a 36% reduction in child RTCs the first year it was run.

We have found that children telling children about round safety in the guise of songs to be an excellent form of engagement. It really raises the profile of road safety in the schools, as usually the class performs the song in assembly, etc.
