These guidelines have been produced for those tasked with assessing the safety of ‘walked routes to and from school to determine the provision of free school transport under the Education Act 1944, amended 1966.
The guidelines, which were updated in March 2012, are available free of charge to Road Safety members, from the members’ area on the Road Safety GB website.
Schools can obtain a copy from their local authority road safety team (see link below).
