Measures in this manifesto include increasing the mode share for cycle trips to 10% and for walking trips to 30%; a default 20mph limit on streets where we 'live, work, shop and play'; and making walking and cycling the norm for half of school journeys.
Sustrans’ ‘Quality of Life Manifesto for Transport in the Capital’ is aimed at London Assembly and Mayoral candidates in the run up to the 2012 elections in London.
Measures in the manifesto include an increase in the mode share for cycle trips to 10% and for walking trips to 30% by 2020; a default 20mph limit on streets where we ‘live, work, shop and play’; a commitment to making walking and cycling the norm for a half of school journeys; and the cycling revolution to be focussed on outer London where need and potential are greatest.
Sustrans summarises its objectives into four key areas: A ‘greater’ greater London; a city of twenty; free range kids; and quality streets.
