The ‘HeadSmart’ scheme is for 12 – 14 year olds and shows how a helmet can reduce head injury severity.

Each year hospital casualty departments see more than 40,000 children with cycle related head injuries. Approximately 70% of child cyclist deaths are due to the head injury alone. Research has shown a helmet can reduce head injury severity.

Teachers can buy a lesson pack which includes teacher’s notes including objectives and preparation, role play suggestions, the five Ss, five facts you may not know, a sample letter to parents, quiz main structures, and functions of the brain fact sheets.
