The DfT has launched a new website which allows members of the public to analyse and examine reported road accident statistics.
The DfT has launched a new website which allows members of the public to analyse and examine reported road accident statistics.
The website, Road Casualties Online, has been developed by the DfT’s road safety research and statistics team and was launched on 24 June 2010.
The purpose of the site is to put road accident statistics in the hands of the public, thereby making them more accessible to a wider audience.
Users will be able to look at road accident statistics across Great Britain and in their local authority area for a range of years from 2004 to 2008. Data for 2009 will be added later in 2010.
The statistics in the site are based on personal injury road accidents that are reported to the police and collated by the DfT.
This is a new site and more background information will be added in the next few weeks and the site will be further developed over the coming months.
