Child pedestrian casualties and deprivation (paper)

This paper is one of a series of ‘essential evidence’ papers which summarise key evidence from peer-reviewed literature which is used to strengthen the case for current transport policies and practice.

All of the summaries are published on a single page in order to better disseminate academic research to practitioners for implementation within planning and policy.

This paper argues that engineering measures that modify the physical and traffic environments where injuries occur, and wider social policy measures in the places where the casualties live, may be most effective in reducing the number of child traffic injuries among deprived socio-economic groups.
