MAST Online is an innovative web based data analysis tool for road safety professionals to gain insight into crashes and the people involved with them. This information is invaluable for planning effective and efficient interventions.
It not only provides stakeholders with national crash data for user-customised in-depth analysis, but also offers unique insights into people involved in crashes with the help of Mosaic Public Sector, the market leading socio-demographic database from Experian.
MAST fulfils previous government proposals to ‘provide an online database combining accident and socio-demographic data … [which will] allow ready local analysis of collision statistics by social and geographical groupings’.
The concept is based on an award winning solution originally created by the Thames Valley Safer Roads Partnership (TVSRP). TVSRP gained Department for Transport funding under the Road Safety Partnership Grant Scheme to share the benefits with the whole road safety community. The initial development cycle ran from April 2008 until March 2010.
Customer insight is regarded as an important mechanism for driving service improvement across the public sector. Successful and cost effective intervention delivery relies on understanding both the issues and the intended audience. MAST Online supplies road safety practitioners with easy access to relevant data, and so will help them to provide the best possible service.
