Walk this May (publicity campaign)

Living Streets anticipated that hundreds of thousands of people would take part in Walk to Work Week (11-15 May) and Walk to School Week (18-22 May), which are part of National Walking Month (May 2015), its annual flagship event aimed at raising awareness of the benefits of walking.

The 2015 event focused on the health benefits of walking and the difference it can make to the health of our nation. Living Streets says walking for just 20 minutes a day can “transform fitness levels, improve health and reduce stress and anxiety”.

Workplaces and individual employees were encouraged to register for Walk to Work Week via the Living Streets’ website, where they could log their walks, compete with colleagues, calculate CO2 savings and see how many calories they’d walked off.

Walk to School Week (18–22 May) encouraged families to try the school run on foot and see how much less stressful and healthier it can be.
