The third UN Global Road Safety Week (4-10 May 2015) will focus on children using the strapline ‘Save kids’ lives’.

The Week will be used to draw attention to the “urgent need to better protect children and generate action on the measures needed to do so”. It will also give added impetus to the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020 and its goal of saving five million lives.

The event will be organised by the UN Road Safety Collaboration (UNRSC), and the Week’s website will be developed in the months ahead to include a toolkit for organisers, a calendar of events and other resources.

The UNRSC has produced a briefing note outlining a number of activities to involve children in activities such as delivering petitions to policymakers and working as road safety journalists and photographers.

The Week will be discussed and developed further at the UNRSC meeting in Geneva on 6-7 October 2014.
