The App, PLAYING IT SAFE, was funded by South West Wales Integrated Transport Consortium (SWWITCH) which comprises Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire councils. It is designed to help parents, guardians and teachers raise awareness of road safety practices among children.
It comprises four interactive mini games to provide the target age groups (3-11 years) with a variety of fun games and activities.
‘Be Bright Be Seen’ involves dressing characters in the right clothes and equipment for different activities; ‘Safer Crossing’ challenges children to choose the best place to cross and wait for a safe time to cross; ‘Beat the Lights’ involves guessing the next light in a traffic light sequence; and the ‘Road Ready Quiz’ challenges the child on their road safety knowledge.
PLAYING IT SAFE is free to download, bilingual (English/Welsh) and is available on both I tunes and Google play.
