In-depth interviews were conducted with recently convicted drivers and others who had driven after drinking in the six weeks prior to interview.

The latter included respondents who thought they had probably driven over the limit at least once in that period and respondents who thought they had not.

This project was intended to inform Department for Transport policy in this area, drink-drive campaigns and designs for future quantitative surveys of drinking and driving.

A review of relevant research was undertaken in parallel with the qualitative research and the findings published separately.
