The York City Council road safety team provides advice and information on the following issues:
• Cycle training – Cycle training for adults and information about training offered in schools.
• Pedestrian crossings – Pelican, puffin and toucan crossings.
• Cycling and walking to school – school travel plans help to reduce the effects of the ‘school run’ on congestion and pollution.
• Current and year-round road safety campaigns
• School crossing patrols – we provide school crossing patrols. We are not required to provide crossing patrols by law but we do so as a matter of safety.
• Speed limits – you can ask the council to change or introduce a speed limit on a road or area.
• 20mph speed limits and zones – proposed 20mph speed limits.
• Winter driving – advice about driving safely in freezing conditions.
