Road Safety Scotland

Road Safety Scotland develops and co-ordinates national road safety education and publicity initiatives. It is funded by Transport Scotland, an agency of the Scottish Government and, in 2011-2012 its annual budget is £1,810,000, with a further £500,000 allocated to social marketing campaigns which are designed to address the problems which pose the greatest risk to Scottish road users.

Road Safety Scotland provides a focus for all those with an interest in, or remit for road safety, to meet twice yearly. The organisation is managed by an Executive Committee, which also meets twice a year, while the main business is carried by two sub-committees, dealing with education and publicity. These sub-committees draw their membership from local authorities, the police and fire and rescue services, as well as national bodies with a road safety involvement such as the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), motoring organisations and the Institute of Road Safety Officers in Scotland.
