Road safety directly involves all road users whether travelling on bike, on foot or by car. Road safety practices identify the factors that lead to road accidents. Through a variety of engineering measures, educational initiatives at schools and special events, Torfaen Council implements road safety programmes to all age groups and sections of the community.
Safer Routes in the Community initiatives, Cycle Proficiency Training and Kerbcraft Pedestrian Training are just some of the ways that road safety matters are addressed in Torfaen. Using these resources, we hope to make our roads a much safer environment and reduce the number of collisions on our roads.
The Torfaen Road Safety Strategy sets out a framework of specific and general road safety targets for all road users within the community. Particular attention is paid to Road Safety schemes aimed at school children, young drivers and pedestrians.
