Safer Roads (Berkshire)

‘Safer Roads’ is a generic prefix attributed to partnership activities undertaken by the six Berkshire Local Authorities in order to progressively reduce the number of road casualties in their area.
United through a common identity, Safer Roads delivers innovative and high quality award winning schemes and road safety initiatives whilst maintaining the benefits and efficiencies of working together.

Through Safer Roads, dedicated road safety funding is being used in some areas to assist with roadside enforcement and to educate road users about the dangers and risks they face, and the steps they can take to avoid becoming a casualty themselves. Safer Roads activities focus on campaigns that target those road user groups that are at greatest risk.

The six authorities who are signed up to the joint agreement are:

BRACKNELL FOREST BOROUGH COUNCIL
READING BOROUGH COUNCIL
SLOUGH BOROUGH COUNCIL
WEST BERKSHIRE COUNCIL
ROYAL BOROUGH OF WINDSOR & MAIDENHEAD
WOKINGHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL

Safer Roads (Berkshire) has been formed from parts of the former Thames Valley Safer Roads Partnership which ceased activities in April 2011. Many of the original project team have been retained and the service is now provided by Road Safety Analysis Limited , a not-for profit company.
