The Road Safety Team offers a comprehensive road safety education, training and publicity programme. Officers provide an advisory service to ensure that road safety messages and themes can be covered both in the classroom and in the wider community. Other educational activities include Theatre in Education performances and the opportunity for guest speakers to assist in longer-term road safety projects such as pre-driver education programmes.
Cycle training is available for year 6 pupils and pedestrian training is offered to parents and children in reception year. Motorcycle courses are held in partnership with Cambridgeshire Constabulary to encourage motorcyclists to ride defensively.
We deliver a high profile publicity programme throughout the year in conjunction with the Department for Transport to raise awareness to key road safety issues which include, seatbelts, drink and drug driving, teenage road safety, mobile phones and the use of inappropriate speed.
