Street Policy & Public Safety Team

Street Policy
Responsible for street policy, public safety and management of 2 funding programmes relating to the Mayor of London’s transport budget, the Local Implementation Plan (LIP) and the Borough Spending Plan (BSP).

The Street Policy Service covers traffic management strategies and programmes, public transport, walking and cycling, safer routes to school, home zones and traffic calming, casualty reduction and statistical analysis, controlled parking and streetscape design, new initiatives such as Crossrail, the Cross River Tram and Congestion Charging.

Public Safety
We deliver road safety education, training and publicity. We work with children of all ages and adults to deliver safety education, and provide resources for teachers.

Delivers an anti-drug driving programme for young people and adults.

Provide the School Crossing Patrol service (Lollipop People), free national standard Bikeability cycling training and pedestrian skill training for school children. Currently working on child injury inequality project.

Promotes safer use of the roads for pedestrians and cyclists. Produces the Road Safety Plan for the Council. Organises the annual Walk to School campaign and has involvement in promoting and partaking in other events both local and national events such as Child Safety Week, Road Safety Week and Camden Green Fair.
