
The London Borough of Brent is classed as an outer London borough by the office of national statistics.
Brent is Britain’s most diverse borough and is home to people of all faiths and religions. It has a population of 263,464 residents (2001 Census), it is one of the larger London Boroughs, covering almost 17 square miles.
Brent attracts thousands of visitors every year as it is home to the new 90,000 seater Wembley Stadium.
The Accident Prevention Unit consists of 1 Team Leader, 1 Senior Road Safety Officer, 1 Senior School Travel Plan Officer, 1 Accident Prevention Officer, 1 Senior School Crossing Patrol Supervisor, 1 School Crossing Patrol Supervisor and 50 School Crossing Patrols.
Together we:
• Deliver road safety education, training and publicity in all schools and nurseries
• Provide resources and support for teachers
• Promote and monitor school travel plans
• Encourage safe and sustainable modes of travel
• Manage the school crossing patrol service
• Promote the free national standard Bikeability cycle training
• Provide pedestrian skills training for children
• Address road safety concerns raised by schools and residents
• Identify vulnerable community groups and introduce interventions to help reduce injury inequality
• Work with in partnership with local companies to reduce PTW casualties
