North Lincolnshire Council

North Lincolnshire is situated on the southern side of the Humber Estuary and includes land either side of the River Trent. The unitary authority of North Lincolnshire council was created in 1996 when Humberside County Council was dissolved. It is an authority in its own right and is not part of Lincolnshire County Council.

North Lincolnshire is a mainly rural area with Scunthorpe as its largest centre of population (around 74,000), with a number of small market towns and villages as other centres of population.
