The Road Safety Unit at Kirklees Council undertakes work in the following area:
Driver Training
• The unit currently delivers several schemes including:
• An Enhanced Pass Plus Scheme
• The National Driver Improvement Scheme
• A Speed Awareness Scheme
Other courses and presentations
Road Safety Training for Children
The Kirklees Road Safety Unit offers pedestrian training and safer cycling training to children in primary, infant and junior, and secondary schools.
School Crossing Patrols
School Crossing Patrols are provided where children are in danger from road traffic when walking to school.
Road safety Publicity Campaigns
The unit promotes various issues through schools, business and the community. Officers support National Road Safety Campaigns. Local campaigns are either developed by the Unit or requested by a local community groups.
