Carmarthenshire County Council

The Road Safety Action Group was set up to consider ways to improve road safety across Carmarthenshire in partial fulfilment of our responsibilities under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 to improve community safety. The group is one of five action groups within the Community Safety Partnership, the chairperson of which is council’s Chief Executive Officer and the vice-chair being Chief Superintendent of Dyfed Powys Constabulary.

The group is concerned with delivery of the strategies and objectives set out in the Carmarthenshire Road Safety Plan 2010.

The group is multi-agency group comprising county council officers from:

• Road Safety
• Traffic Management
• Accident Research and Prevention
• Community Safety Partnership
• Communities First
• Safe Routes to the Communities

The group is attended by Dyfed Powys Constabulary Carmarthenshire Roads Policing Unit and Road Safety Unit, the Ambulance Locality, the Fire and Rescue Service, and the All Wales Casualty Reduction Partnership. The group is chaired by the Council’s Head of the Transportation Division.
