Durham County Council’s Road Safety Section deals with education in schools and colleges: including child pedestrian training; Bikeability training; driver training through EXCELerate young driver pre-test training. Driver training is also provided for young people (post-test) older drivers through safer driving with AGE (SAGE) and for business with our ECO driving programme. We also have responsibility for the management of the School Crossing Patrol Service
The team works closely with the other 11 highway authorities in the region through the Road Safety GB network, sharing knowledge and expertise to produce high profile publicity campaigns, and educational resources.
