The Council’s Road Safety Team is looking to develop a more evidence based and data led approach over the next few years in order to focus activity where it will have the greatest impact on both casualty and road danger reduction.
Bristol will be working with its partners in the West of England Road Safety Partnership to address the most pressing casualty problems. These have been identified by a recent study carried out by UCL and Social Research Associates as young drivers and motorcyclists, adult pedestrians and cyclists.
We will be developing innovative approaches to dealing with these casualty groups in cooperation with our partners. As part of the Greater Bristol Cycle Demonstration City project, we will seek to address cycist and pedestrian casualties in a context of promoting and encouraging these transport modes.
