Bradford City Council

The City of Bradford Metropolitan District has a population of 490,000, which is steadily increasing – to a predicted 520,000 in 2011. It has a wide mix of environment from inner city areas with high levels of traditional terraced housing through suburban development to extensive rural areas.

Road Safety is delivered in partnership with many other agencies and with local communities, promoting personal and social responsibility through “Safer Together” – our road safety plan.

Recent major initiatives have been the development and expansion of child pedestrian skills training, and delivery of speed management and community based roads engineering, along with targeted roads and neighbourhood policing.

Bradford was a participant in NRSI – Neighbourhood Road Safety Initiative – and continues to adopt the principles of community involvement in road safety issues.
