Hi, we’re looking at trying to develop an online booking system which would allow schools to book our road safety sessions (practical pedestrian training and hall based road safety presentations). Has anyone successfully developed something like this in their authority area?
Our main barrier to setting up an online system is that due to school times/ pupil numbers and the fact that some of our staff are part time and have different working hours and patterns, many of our sessions end up being tailored specifically to each setting rather than being standard one size fits all session for all schools
The main purpose for wanting to develop an online booking system is:
A) to make it easy, efficient and quick for schools to book
B) to reduce our admin time and help us work more efficiently – we currently spend a lot of time chasing schools (telephoning and emailing) and waiting for them to confirm dates/ times / numbers of pupils etc.
C) to help us promote our service more widelyIf you’ve managed to work with your IT to set up an online booking system for schools, then it would be great to hear from you.

We commissioned Agilysis to provide such a portal – we are on our final stages of beta testing but more than happy to explain the concept to the system. We will use this for all our training sessions with schools and it can also create public events.
