Thames Valley Road Safety Strategy

Organisation: Office of the Police & Crime Commissioner for Thames Valley

Date of Publication: October 2024

Uploded to Knowledge Centre: 22 October 2024

This Strategy sets out a series of collective actions to reduce fatalities and enhance overall traffic safety on the roads in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Milton Keynes.

Key priorities outlined in the Strategy include: educating the public about safe driving practices and traffic laws; enforcing traffic laws to deter unsafe behaviour; sharing data to identify collision hotspots and inform improvements to the road network; improving road infrastructure; supporting a swift emergency response to incidents; and providing better support for victims.

The Strategy promotes the application of the Safe System approach to road safety – safe behaviour, safe vehicles, safe roads, safe speeds and a rapid post-collision response.
