I’m developing a module for my Elder College (Learning in the 3rd Age) course on planning to stop driving. I don’t need information on driver testing or how age affects our ability to drive, just how to plan to give up your licence. Car Free Me in Brisbane, Australia has already shared some research papers with me. Thanks!

Has anyone considered the insurance angle? I was recently talking with an elderly gent in his 80’s plays golf twice a week and the experience he is finding is that some UK insurance companies are not offering car insurance to the over 80’s.

This could become a massive problem with an aging population and I hate to say, terrible bus service (in Shropshire we don’t have a Sunday Bus service and the majority of services stop at 7pm)

    Just a thought…
