Date published/launched: November 2013
The Highways Agency's 2013 winter driving campaign was launched at the 'Snozone' indoor slope at Milton Keynes.
Research by the Highways Agency shows that around half of drivers in England do not carry out pre-winter checks on their vehicle, and 53% do not even carry de-icer. It also shows that 28% of drivers do not carry any of the items in the Highways Agency's suggested emergency kit.
The Highways Agency's winter driving campaign explain how the network is treated during winter and provides information and advice to help drivers prepare for journeys in severe weather.
The campaign has three main messages:
• Be prepared: is your vehicle ready for winter?
• Be informed: have you planned your journey and have you checked the latest traffic and weather information?
• Keep in touch: follow the Highways Agency on social media.
