To coincide with the 2010 football World Cup, York Road Safety Team in partnership with North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue launched a designated driver campaign.
The campaign was rolled out across City of York and was picked up by the 95Alive Road Safety Partnership team and taken into parts of North Yorkshire.
The campaign comprised an advertising campaign including bus backs and inners, leaflets to every household in York, fire engine sides, beer mats and T-shirts handed out to local pubs and clubs.
As well as a high profile advertising campaign, a number of city centre events were held in York to coincide with key England matches to further promote the designate a driver message to members of the public.
