The use of public space protection orders outside of schools

Iím researching the use of public space protection orders (PSPOs) around school. I was wondering if anyone could advise me where I could find some information regarding the use of these PSPOs around schools to prevent parents illegally and dangerously parking outside of school gates.

Check out scheme in London Borough of Havering:

Looks like a really interesting way of dealing with the problem - can certainly think of a few schools in Oxfordshire that could benefit similarly.

Thanks Christian, Iíve taken their information on their site as this is where I came across these public space protection orders. Iím trying to collated the data so I can present it to the local authority as an option to try. Itís a serious issue that seems to only get worse at peak times with pupil numbers rising, number of cars on the road increasing and also complaints from residents itís seems to be a viable option if cost effective. Which would improve statistics in various areas. Thanks for your help

Can I ask if you have a road safety problem or a traffic management problem? If no road safety problem exists, and you try to fix it, is there the potential to create one, by allowing passing traffic to go faster outside your schools due to the lack of (sometimes chaotic) parking by parents at peak times? Just a thought...

We have an issue with parents parking, at each side of the road sometimes on the pavements to. We have some vehicles speeding. The school is at a junction which comes off a main road people use it as a shortcut to cut through the estate. With parents parking either side of the road it causes congestion due to buses and other vehicles using the road. I have a request in to see if zig zag lines can be atleast extended to the end of the school fence. I will take on board what you've said as that I hadn't thought of. This subject took me took into what more could be done around many schools of high priority to improve safety for the children, they are so new that their is little information available on this use. I'm new to this subject picked it up as a concerned mum so any advise on the factors that would be considered are great. Thank you
