Pedestrian Training

My colleague who has always delivered our pedestrian training was made redundant at the end of September and so I am going to have to use an outside company to deliver pedestrian training going forward. Typically training has been delivered to Year 3/4 pupils in the borough. Is anyone aware of or could recommend any companies that might be able to deliver training for me in London? I know most boroughs deliver the training themselves but if anyone has any leads I would be very grateful!

Hi Laura
We offer traiing to representatives from each school and local PCSO's who then deliver the training to the children.
The training day is offered to all schools and takes place once/twice a year depending on demand.
For further information please contact me on 01244 976713

Hi Laura,

If neighbouring/near-by Boroughs deliver the training themselves is it worth having a conversation about paying them to deliver it in your area too?

Just a thought.

Laura,

A colleague of mine delivered this for Sheffield City Council before they too cut the programme.

We could offer it - if this is of interest please call me on 07971486474 or email me on alan@2020ts.co.uk

Many thanks

Alan

Outsourcing Ped Skills

I was in a similar situation when staffing was cut. The result was that I outsourced the ped skills to my bikeability provider which for me made absolute sense.
They were already dealing with all the Primary Schools in the City so the booking side was just absorbed into their conversations they had with the schools for the cycle training. The hardest part was putting a costing for the training but its not impossible and the only issue you will face is a budget to pay for this.
If you want ideas on how to do this feel free to contact me.

Outsourcing ped skills

I would suggest working with the borough's cycle training provider - it's also worth asking that Bikeability cycle training includes revision for pupils on crossing roads etc. - I do it as a matter of course, rather than shepherding pupils across roads (it's useful for a child to demonstrate some competency at crossing a road before being taught to cycle on-road, although the pupils are of course being monitored at all times). For a surprising number of pupils in Yr 5/6 independent road crossing is not a commonplace activity
