Seat Belt Sled

I am looking for any information on the seatbelt sled demonstration units. Who uses them, where they are made and cost? Any information and advice would be greatly appreciated.

the best people to speak too would be the fire service for your area. they used to have such devices. but it depends on where you are from.
if you from South Wales then i can put you in touch with the right department, but you will need to speak to whoever is in cahrge of their road safety department

seat belt sled

We have one here in west sussex and I believe colleagues in east sussex my still have one also - but. Slightly different design. It's stored in a highways depot at the moment but after easter I will be happy to check it out for any maker's plate. We have risk assessment and disclaimer forms as well as operator instruction so if you ever own one drop me a note and we'll be happy to share.

I have been informed (it was before I was involved) that Cardiff had a sled, but stopped using it after someone hurt their neck and either sued, or threatened to sue, the Council.

Seatbelt sled information

We have a seatbelt demonstration unit here in Hammersmith & Fulham.

The manufacturers are based in Colchester, Essex: mobileweldingltd@aol.com

We replaced our old one in 2009 when the price was £3860.00. We specified certain extras which brought the final amount to £5334.00.

We have produced comprehensive operating documentation. You are welcome to contact us directly.

Seat Belt Sled

Hi,

We have one in Northamptonshire also. Supplied by Fordham Trailors, Clochester, Essex, 01206 240670 or e-mail mobilewelding@aol.com (same as Rob's supplier). We paid £3,860 around 2008.
We don't put real people on ours though we bought a couple of life size/weighted dummies similar to those used by Fire & Rescue, not sure where they came from but could try to find out for you.

Hope that helps.

Seatbelt Sledge

Hi Paul we have a seatbelt sledge here in Neath Port Talbot we use it to demonstrate the dangers of not wearing a seatbelt even on the shortest of journeys. We have a dummy that is strapped into the seat using a seatbelt as due to health and safety we are not allowed to put a person on the seatbelt sledge.

The company that built it is called Image First Event Solutions Ltd but unfortunately their company was dissolved in 2013.
If I can be of any further help please contact myself using the following email roadsafety@npt.gov.uk

We have one of these which we use occasionally. I do not have a price for it as we were gifted it by a neighbouring authority who could not use it any longer.

seat belt sledge

Hi paul I work for colas mechanical services at the council depot in Ringmer. From time to time we use the sledge (which is stored in our depot) for school open days where colas has an input regarding our SAID+ campaign, also we loan it to the fire service through East Sussex County Council Road Safety department(Graham Beatty)who I should add own the sledge & we maintain it for the council, we find it off great value for young drivers or would be drivers as an encouragement to all ways wear a seat belt, any more information contact Graham Beatty AT ESCC.
Regards,
Dave

Seatbelt Sled

In Cleveland and Durham Police forces we use the seatbelt sled for our road safety weeks. The sled is transported to colleges and promotions where where people are allowed to sit in it and feel the effects of an impact between 5-8 mph. From feedback given it has certainly been beneficial to the students who have used it.
