Secondary Age ETP

I am taking over a theme lead role for secondary road safety ETP in South Yorkshire and will be putting together a report looking at best practice. I would really appreciate any information on current schemes/packages you may be using, in particular ones which include evaluation.

Road Safety Scotland has two big secondary school resources Your Call for age 12 - 14 and Crash Magnets for age 15 - 16. Crash Magnets has been evaluated and was relaunched with adaptations in October 2010. Your Call is going to be evaluated this year. I can send you the new Crash Magnet pack and the DVD material for Your Call. The Crash Magnet review can be found at http://www.roadsafetyscotland.org.uk/research/completed-research/crash-magnets-research/

Our secondary school service is restricted to ''young and emerging drivers'' and has two stages - mass audience followed by in-class support. Our Theme Lead for this group will be happy to talk about specifics if you would like to - let me know and I'll send details.

Have a look at the Devon page here: http://www.roadsafetyknowledgecentre.org.uk/organisations/devon-county-council.html to download our evidence report on young and emerging drivers which hopefully will give you some pointers as to what works. All our evidence-base reports are written for our service needs but do have a broader value and offer a decent summary of the published literature on the subject.

Jeremy

Secondary Age ETP

Hello Sue
I have been given the task of setting up in class road safety education & training sessions for the students in the early years of secondary school, so I would also be interested in sharing any information you have on best practice & courses that are already up & running that have been evaluated.
