Evaluation Of Road Safety Campaigns

I am trying to find out what type of evaluation happens and how it is carried out within other Authorities and organisations. Any information would be of great help.

Evaluation Of Road Safety Campaigns

Hi Peter,

I agree with Adrian that E-valu-it is a really good resource for getting you to think about what an evaluation might look like and how you might want to approach it. The questions the system asks are really good 'reality checks' - prompting the user to think about what they are trying to achieve and how success might be measured. The FAQs are really useful as well.

It is a complicated subject, though, with many different methodologies and approaches available to authorities. We undertook some work last with the RAC Foundation to understand how the road safety sector designs and evaluates behaviour change interventions. As you will see in the report, the approaches differ greatly across the country: https://www.racfoundation.org/research/safety/effectiveness-of-uk-road-safety-behaviour-change-interventions

If you would like to have a chat about how evaluations are undertaken by authorities, by themselves and by others on their behalf, please email me and we can arrange a call.

Hi Peter.

I work for the Scottish Government and we evaluate all of Road Safety Scotland's education campaigns, in a way that's tailored depending on the audience we've been trying to reach. Very happy to have a chat at some point if that's helpful.

Hi Peter,

I work at RoSPA and was part of the team who developed the new version of the e-valu-it toolkit.

If it is of interest, we deliver training on using the toolkit and how to evaluate road safety interventions. I would be happy to have a chat with you about whether a training session might be appropriate for you and colleagues when the current situation improves and we are back to some form of normality.

Thanks everyone for responding with some really useful information.

I will be in contact with those who've offered once things have retruned to whatever normality is!

Thanks again and stay safe
