Toolkit for schools

Does anyone have a toolkit with self help material for schools? I am looking to create a toolkit website page where schools can self help by, for example, downloading images for publicity, guidance on walking buses, school travel plans and many other self help support material. I am particularly interested in whether anyone has any self help school travel plan information I can share. This is very much aimed at schools taking responsibility for matters outside their schools, rather than the local Authority having all the answers.

Toolkit for schools

Hi Rob

If they're interested in sustainable travel they could visit our web page for Air, land and sea:

Thanks

Toolkit for schools

Hi Rob,

Have you seen the Modeshift STARS portal for schools? That allows them to create a Travel Plan and record any initiatives that they run. There is also the TFL STARS for London website which has lots of different lesson plans on it and ideas for sustainable travel initiatives.

We are using Modeshift here in Kirklees

Kindest Regards,
Suzanne

Toolkit for schools

A local council in Norfolk developed with the Road Safety Team a schools Bike Walk Scoot Programme, the aim was schools taking ownership and setting up a group of parents / Governors to run the scheme. Unfortunately programme got pulled but resources are here https://www.broadland.gov.uk/downloads/download/570/bike_walk_scoot_campaign_materials_for_schools

Toolkit for schools

Hi Rob
We are in the process of creating a toolkit for schools or actually a 'Road Safety One Stop Shop' is our working title. Our research included a trawl of many Local Authority websites and there was very little out there. In terms of School Travel Plans(STP) we have a new STP template (Necessity is the mother of invention) which, by the nature of the form, puts a decent proportion of ownership and commitment with the school. Contact me by email or phone if you wish to discuss either.

Toolkit for schools

Hi Rob,

We're also developing a toolkit for schools which will launch later in Spring. Whilst we will have some resources 'freely' available, some will only be available to schools with caveats- such as use of Modeshift STARS. Resources drafted include all the usual things - lessons, assemblies, newsletter content, pledges, competitions as well as useful contacts, guidance on what partners could do and what they cannot do to try and manage expectations. Happy to discuss our ideas, do get in touch if you want to know more.
